How to subscribe to a podcast on your Mac or PC

If you would like to hear more episodes of a podcast you can sometimes subscribe to it on your computer or mobile device.

• Go to the website for the podcast
• Click Subscribe 
  • This may take you to Apple Podcast, Google Podcasts or the sites RSS feed

Apple Podcast App

When you buy an Apple mobile device, this app is already installed.  You can find it on the home screen.  You can also find it by searching in the Apple App store. You can also find other Podcast apps in the app store, like Google Podcast,  Stitcher, Spotify, Castbox or PocketCasts.

How to find and install podcast apps from the App Store  

 Follow the steps below to find and install a podcasts app from the App Store on your device: 

• Tap the App Store on your Home Screen. 
• Search the App Store by typing the word "Podcast" into the search box.
• Select Apple Podcast app or another podcast app
• Tap on GET to start the download 

To download and install the app you will need to sign into your Apple ID.  

Your Apple ID is the account that you use to access Apple services. If you use other Apple services like iCloud, sign in to the App Store with the same Apple ID. If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one. 

You may want to activate Touch ID by placing your finger on the Home button or double-click the side button for Face ID.

Finding and Listening to a Podcast on Apple Podcast App

• Go to the app’s search page and type in the name of the podcast you want to find, for example Diabetes Canada Podcast. This should take you to the podcast’s homepage.  
• Once on the podcast homepage, you’ll see a list of recent episodes. Tap on one to play it.  
• A subscribe button at the top of the page lets you subscribe for free. This means the app will automatically download the latest episodes to Your Library. 
• Please note that all podcasts you subscribe to, including the latest episodes, will be downloaded to the podcast app you selected
