The St. Michael's Hospital Archives first opened its doors on December 1, 1974; its records had been compiled by Grace Murphy, an archives researcher and retired director of nursing. Sister Camilla Young, a retired high school teacher and librarian, served as Archivist for the first 14 years. She is responsible for arranging the archives, as well as for indexing and cross-referencing it in a card catalogue, that is still in use today! It was not until 2006 that the part-time professional archivist position was created. |
