Point-of-Care Tools

Learn more about key evidence-based medicine resources, including UpToDate, Lexicomp and AccessMedicine, to improve patient care at the bedside. 60 min.

Learn how to do effective article searches in key research databases, including CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsycInfo, PubMed, and the Joanna Briggs Institute EBP database (see the list of all THP Library Resources). We offer customized sessions for beginner, intermediate and advanced searchers. Whether you need in-depth training on one database or an overview of databases for your field, we can help! 60 min.


Searching for Grey Literature

Ever wonder where to locate hard-to-find materials such as conference proceedings, government reports, clinical practice guidelines or statistics? This session will uncover the tips and tricks to finding these valuable information sources. 60 min.

This workshop will help you find out how to stay current. You'll learn how to identify key journals in your field, how to set up search alerts, and how to set up journal table of contents alerts. 30 min.

Starting in Excel

Short on time? Watch our videos  

This session will cover the basic terminology and functions of Microsoft Excel. Attendees will leave this session with the skills needed to create and format a table that includes a basic math formula. This session is ideal for those with little to no previous experience with Excel, or for those who have used it in the past but need a refresher. 60 min.

This session will cover intermediate terminology and functions of Microsoft Excel, including manual formatting, pasting options, advanced formulas (SUMIF and COUNTA) and sorting and filtering. This session is ideal for those who have attended the library's other Excel sessions or for those who create and manipulate Excel worksheets on a regular (daily, or at least weekly) basis. 60 min.


Pivots in Excel

This session will introduce and provide an overview of working with PivotTables and PivotCharts. This session is ideal for those who have taken the library's other Excel courses, or for those who feel very comfortable creating and manipulating Excel worksheets on a regular (daily, or at least weekly) basis. 60 min.
