The FortiClient VPN platform permits Unity Health Toronto staff and students to gain off-site access to each of its three libraries. This program can be downloaded while on-site to a Unity Health Toronto laptop. Complete a request for installation of the program on your laptop. Following installation by the IT department, it will appear as a file folder entitled, “VPN” on the desktop.
Login Steps:
Step 1. There are several documents in the "VPN" file. Begin by opening the "FortiClient VPN" file.
Step 2. The following login screen will appear:
Step 2a. The “VPN name” corresponds with your location. For example, St. Michael’s staff and students, select “SMH Remote.”
Step 2b. Enter your username. It is the same as that used to access Unity Health computers. It is preceded by your site affiliation. For example, SMH\username.
Step 2c. Enter your password. It is the same as that used to access Unity Health computers and systems.
Step 2d. Press "Connect."
Step 2e. VPN will request a token following verification of your username and password:
Step 3. Open the FortiToken app on your phone. Instructions to access this app are typically forwarded when FortiClient VPN is installed. The FortiToken app permits a connection with the Unity Health network it is available from IT.
Step 3a. Enter this token on FortiClient window [Step 2].
Step 3b. Press OK. Virtual access to a Unity Health library is now possible. The duration of access is as long as the VPN is operating.
