EndNote 21: EndNote Web and EndNote Click

A basic guide to installing and using EndNote 21.

EndNote Web and EndNote Click

EndNote Web allows you to access your library from your preferred web browser.

EndNote Click is a browser extension that allows you to search for full-text editions of your resources through Google Chrome, Firefox or Opera.

EndNote Web

Once you have access to EndNote and you have it installed on your computer, you can download EndNote Web if that is your preferred way to view and work with your library. 

Step 1:

Firstly, click on "Sync Configuration" in the top left-hand side corner of the main page in EndNote. After this, click sync now, the blue button towards the top right-hand corner of the screen.


Step 2:

After this, you will then be prompted to login to your EndNote account. From here, you should then select 'sign up'.


Step 3:

Sign up with your Michener email address. 


Step 4:

Fill out the remaining fields. Your email address will appear in the relevant field below after you have entered it. 


Step 5:

Log in to EndNote Web using your email address and password. 


Step 6:

You will see the web version. From here, you can sync between the web and app versions of EndNote. 


Step 7:

If you prefer, you can also use EndNote on iPhone or iPad.

EndNote Click

EndNote Click is a browser extension that allows you to find full-text editions of resources that you have found. If you have EndNote Click installed, you can search for these through EndNote, either via the web version or the app, after which you can view them in your library. It is a different product from EndNote Web.

To do this, visit EndNote Click. The landing page will look like this. Click the purple installation button below, and you will be prompted to add the the browser extension.

Remember that you can only use it on Chrome, Firefox or Opera. You can find more information on how to use it below.

Find Full Text

There are two ways that you can search for full-text copies of research material that you are working with. Before getting started, make sure that you have downloaded EndNote Click to your browser. You should use Chrome or Firefox when working with EndNote Click, with Firefox being the preferred option.

Step 1:
When you are in your library, go to All References on the left-hand side menu, and then select the resources that you would like run through the Find Full Text feature, as indicated in the image below.


Step 2: 

From there, you can follow the path through the top menu in the image below.


Step 3:

Alternatively, you can select the magnifying glass  image to search for the full text copies.


Step 4:

EndNote will then search for full-text versions of the articles, and results will be indicated on the left-hand side menu. If a PDF is found, it will automatically be added to your library. If no full-text PDF can be found, EndNote will add either a link to the URL, or indicate that no further information has been found.
