Influenza, is commonly known as flu. Influenza is an infectious disease cause by the influenza virus. The virus can be contacted from daily encounters with people or coming into contact with objects that might be contaminated.

Older patients living with chronic kidney disease are especially at risk with being infected with the influenza virus. Their risk of experiencing respiratory illnesses is much greater. Therefore, it is especially recommended that patients over the age of 50 receive the influenza vaccination yearly to avoid being infected.
