Living Well with Chronic Kidney Disease

Peer Support

The diagnosis of kidney disease, can be both emotionally and physically challenging. Through the Kidney Foundation of Canada program, patients are able to receive peer support designed to provide one-to-one support for the patient, family members, and loved ones. The volunteers of the program, are trained volunteers who have experience with the emotional and physical impacts of living with kidney disease. These volunteers are paired with patients and their family to help them cope with the feelings of adjusting to a new lifestyle.  The program provides an opportunity to learn and meet others going through the same experience.
