Heptitis B

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that causes liver disease and inflammation of the liver.  Hepatitis B moves from one person to another through blood or bodily fluids.

Hepatitis B vaccinations are recommended for all chronic kidney disease patients before they begin the in center hemodialysis. This includes peritoneal or home dialysis patients.  Dialysis patients over the age of 20 require three doses. After the first dose is given, the second is given one month later and the third is given 6 months after the second.
