Overview

The Information Specialists at the Health Sciences library are available to support you in accessing scholarly healthcare information. Our services are available to any affiliated staff undertaking projects that are related to a Unity Health Toronto initiative. Please click on one of the options in the table below for types of services or scroll to see all of the options.

Literature Search Service

Literature Search Service

Use this option if:                                                             Steps to take: 
  • You are looking for a select number of relevant articles for various reasons, for example:                  
    • to find best evidence for clinical or patient  care, 
    • to find articles to support a presentation or  publication, 
    • to support education initiatives,
    • or any other project!                                        
1) Fill out this form and your request will be sent to the Information Specialist assigned to your department

Systematic Search Service

Systematic Search Service

Use this option if:                                                             

Steps to take: 

  • You are starting a knowledge synthesis project, such as a systematic, scoping, or realist review
  • You would like an Information Specialist to join your team

1) Review our systematic/scoping review service policies and procedures (internal link to SMH Intranet)

2) Review our systematic reviews guide which includes information about the process

3) Fill out this form 

4) Send the complete protocol to hslibrary@smh.ca and your question will be forwarded to the appropriate
information specialist. The information specialist will contact you to schedule an initial meeting.

Consultation Service

Consultation Service

Use this option if:  Steps to take: 
  • You are looking for guidance about how to get started with literature searching
  • You would like assistance learning how to search  the literature yourself                                         
  • You have other questions you would like to speak to an information specialist one-on-one about

information specialist.
