Natural Medicines

The Natural Medicines database provides evidence-based information about dietary supplements, herbal medicines, and complementary and alternative therapies. Come to this half hour session with an information specialist to learn about this essential tool for checking the safety, effectiveness, and interactions of thousands of natural medicines.

Course objectives:

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  • Be able to use the Effectiveness Checker to search for natural medicines rated for specific conditions
  • Locate information about potential adverse effects of various natural medicines using the Adverse Effects Checker
  • Check for interactions between medications and food, herbs, and supplements
  • Locate commercial supplement monographs, with information about safety, effectiveness, administration and dosing 

Prerequisite: None

Target Audience: All staff and students.
