The Health Sciences Library is dedicated to meeting the information and learning needs of all staff, students and practitioners at St. Michael's Hospital. We offer hands-on workshops to introduce users to the most heavily used databases, information resources, and research tools in the health sciences. Our sessions are practical, interactive and designed to make you a proficient user of our electronic resources.
For staff: To register for library workshops, login to the Learning Centre and search by workshop name. You may also browse all workshops offered by the library by visiting the Learning Centre under "Course Catalogue", select "By keyword" and search for "hslibrary".
For students and volunteers: Please register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
We encourage you to register for the workshop even when it is marked as “Full”. When someone cancels their registration in a full workshop, their spot will be offered to the first waitlisted individual in the system.
On-the-spot “rush seats” are also often available for our workshops due to last minute no-shows. We encourage you to come to the workshop even if you are waitlisted. There is an excellent chance there will be room for you.
Classes will begin at their scheduled start time, and you may miss important content if you are late. At five minutes past the hour anyone may take a seat regardless of whether they have registered or not. This means that you may lose your seat if you are late. Out of respect for other students and the instructor, please arrive on time.
If you have registered for a Library workshop, and you are not able to attend, please email or call 416-864-5059. There may be a waiting list of people who want to attend. If there are less than three registrants the day prior to a workshop it will be canceled and registrants will be notified via email. Workshops with less than three attendees 10 minutes after the scheduled start time may be canceled at the discretion of the instructor.
