Advanced Searching Using New PubMed Interface

PubMed is the free online interface of Medline, the database of biomedical journal citations and abstracts created by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). Recently NLM launch a new PubMed interface. The new PubMed will become the default in spring 2020 and will ultimately replace the legacy version. This session will provide an overview of the new interface; focus on effective strategies for searching PubMed, including instructions on how to incorporate MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) terms into your search; and discuss features such as a citation matcher, a journal title locator, and a clinical queries search filter.

Course Objectives:

This course will help you to:

  • Develop search strategies
  • Use Medical Subject Headings to increase the relevancy of search results
  • Refine your results to workable sets
  • Manage your results and access articles

Prerequisite: Knowledge of basic computer skills

Target Audience:  All staff and students.
